A Woman’s Place at the Southern Peninsula Arts Centre.

March 3rd – 8th 2017.

Dreamhouse theatre was proud to co-produce this very successful mini festival, that involved a number of performance and workshop events about, by and for local peninsula women of all ages.

Particularly exciting was the contribution made by Dreamhouse female ensemble members in the intergenerational verbatim piece Verbatim 17, created from local women’s stories, and the writing of young women from local schools.
Dominique Garrard ran a songwriting workshop with 10 young women. In three hours the group created a very catchy tune. Plans are afoot to develop further.  It also saw the premiere of a new work by Dreamhouse AD Carole Patullo and Dreamhouse associate Jane Bayly, based on local stories gathered in 2015. Great to have the Peninsula Writers’ Group on board as well, for International Womens Day celebrations, along with much loved Peninsula community music event MOTH. Special thanks to Anthea Mackenzie for her vision and tireless producing of this event.
